The Dakshineswar Kali Temple, on the east bank of the Hooghly, is one of Kolkata’s most revered shrines, associated with the 19th-century saint Ramakrishna. Its nine-spired main temple is surrounded by twelve smaller Shiva temples. The Blue Line’s northern terminus, Dakshineswar station, opens just a few minutes’ walk from the temple gate.
