About Masterda Surya Sen

Named after Surya Sen (1894–1934), leader of the Chittagong armoury raid. Serves the Bansdroni area.

Named for Surya Sen, the schoolmaster who led the Chittagong armoury raid in 1930, this station opened on 22 August 2009 as Bansdroni and was renamed later. It is elevated, with side platforms. The area it serves is one of the post-partition residential colonies that filled the southern fringe of the city in the 1950s and 60s, and the metro arriving overhead in 2009 is the main reason the neighbourhood's connection to central Kolkata stopped being measured in bus hours.
