About Hemanta Mukhopadhyay

Named after the legendary Bengali playback singer Hemanta Mukhopadhyay / Hemant Kumar (1920–1989).

Hemanta Mukhopadhyay — named for the singer and composer, and known to everyone locally as Ruby More after the crossing above it — was the northern end of the Orange Line from 15 March 2024 until the extension to Beleghata opened in August 2025. It is elevated with side platforms. The Ruby crossing is one of the busiest points on the EM Bypass and the cluster of hospitals around it is the main reason people use the station.
