The Orange Line (Line 6) is the New Garia–Airport corridor. Its operational section runs 11 km from Kavi Subhash (New Garia) to Beleghata, serving the rapidly growing eastern fringe of Kolkata along the EM Bypass.

The Kavi Subhash–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay section opened on 6 March 2024 and the extension to Beleghata followed on 22 August 2025. The line is being built onward towards the city’s biosciences hub and ultimately Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.

The Orange Line interchanges with the Blue Line at Kavi Subhash. Its stations are named after celebrated Bengali cultural figures — Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and others.
