About Joka
Joka is the southern terminus of the Purple Line, opened on 30 December 2022. Known for the prestigious IIM Calcutta business school campus.
Joka is the western terminus of the Purple Line, opened to passengers on 2 January 2023, three days after the line's first section was inaugurated. It is elevated with two side platforms. The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta is the best-known thing here, along with the Diamond Harbour Road corridor heading south out of the city. The Purple Line is still an isolated stretch — it does not yet meet any other metro line — so Joka is the far end of a route that currently stops short of the centre.
