About Baranagar

Elevated station between Dakshineswar and Noapara serving the Baranagar municipality and northern Kolkata residential areas.

Baranagar opened on the same day as Dakshineswar, 23 February 2021, and serves one of the oldest and most densely built suburbs north of Kolkata — a place with a jute-mill and printing past that has long since been swallowed by the city. The station is elevated with two side platforms. It is also the point where the long-planned interchange with the Circular Rail is meant to happen; that link is not in service, so for now Baranagar is a straightforward through station and the last stop before the line's northern terminus.
