About Kavi Sukanta

Named after the Bengali poet Sukanta Bhattacharya (1926–1947).

Kavi Sukanta was called Kalikapur until it was renamed for Sukanta Bhattacharya, the poet who died at twenty-one in 1947. It opened on 15 March 2024 with the Orange Line's first section and is elevated with two side platforms. The station serves Kalikapur and the residential development behind the Bypass, an area that grew quickly once the road was built and had no rail service of any kind until this line arrived.
