About Gitanjali

Named after the famous poetry collection by Rabindranath Tagore. Serves the Naktala and Garia areas.

Gitanjali — named after Tagore's collection of poems — opened on 22 August 2009 and was previously called Naktala. It is elevated with side platforms. The station sits among the quiet residential blocks of Naktala and Ranikuthi, the sort of south Kolkata neighbourhood of low houses and para clubs that still organises its own Durga Puja. Ranikuthi and the Netaji Nagar colleges are the usual reasons people get off here.
