About Rabindra Sadan

Rabindra Sadan is named after the cultural complex dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore — a major theatre, music and arts venue. The Nandan film centre, Bangla Academy, and Birla Sabhagar are nearby.

Rabindra Sadan serves the city's cultural quarter: the auditorium it is named after, Nandan and the Bangla Academy alongside it, the Academy of Fine Arts across the road, and the Birla Planetarium a short walk away. It opened on 24 October 1984 in the first section and is underground with a single island platform. On evenings when the film festival or a concert is on, this is one of the few stations where the outbound rush happens well after the office peak.
