About Rabindra Sarobar

Named after the beautiful Rabindra Sarobar Lake — Kolkata's most beloved urban lake, surrounded by parks and walking paths. A favorite for joggers and morning walkers.

Rabindra Sarobar takes its name from the artificial lake just east of it, the closest thing south Kolkata has to a public park: a two-kilometre circuit used by walkers and rowing clubs from first light. The station opened on 29 April 1986 and is underground with a single island platform. It is one of the older tunnel stations recorded as having step-free access. The Lake Kalibari and the Southern Avenue residential streets are within a few minutes' walk.
