Frequently asked questions
When the fastest route needs a change of line, the planner routes you through the relevant interchange — Esplanade (Blue ↔ Green) or Kavi Subhash (Blue ↔ Orange) — and adds the walking time between platforms.
The Purple Line (Joka ↔ Majerhat) is currently a standalone segment with no operational interchange to the rest of the network, so journeys between it and the other lines are not yet possible by metro alone. This will change when the Esplanade extension opens.
The Kolkata Metro uses a distance-based zone fare from ₹5 for short trips up to ₹30 for the longest journeys. The planner shows the expected fare for your specific origin → destination pair.
